Learning services
| All children learn at their own pace and have their own particular strengths and weaknesses. In Larkin, we have a highly-trained team of learning support teachers who tailor programmes for individual students according to their needs. Some students may require one-to-one work, or work on a specific difficulty, reading practice within a small group or short-term 'catch-up' work. Whatever a student's need, we can address it in Larkin. We also have the facility to give extra help to students whose abilities in a particular field may be higher than those of their classmates, so that all the students can achieve to their ability level. | ![]() |
Learning resources
![]() | Thanks to the Laptop initiative, we have a large supply of laptop computers in the school which can be used in class, or can even be taken home by a student. We have two dedicated resource rooms in the school, containing targetted resources for English, Maths, History, Geography and IT. Our learning support team meets regularly to evaluate specific programmes, to discuss individual needs and to make changes if required. |
![]() | We maintain close links with local primary schools and teachers, and we have regular reading sessions in the library where our students assist young students from local primary schools with their reading. We recognise that literacy is the key to almost all learning, and it is our aim to improve the literacy levels of all Larkin students while they are with us. In this regard, our library is an invaluable resource. |
