Larkin Community College - School Policies


Our school has policies on a number of issues, including Bullying and Internet Use - these policies are available to any parent who wishes to see them. We will soon have them all available on our website.

Code of Behaviour


* Students must take part in all activities, curricular and extra-curricular

* Students must show respect for all school staff and obey them at all times

* Students must respect school property - no litter, no graffiti

* Where a student is absent from school, a note signed by a parent or guardian must be given to the class tutor on the morning of the student's return to school. A medical certificate should be given in to cover a long absence due to illness. Absences in excess of 20 days will be reported to the Education Welfare Board

* Students must not leave the college without permission

* Students must have a bag containing college diary, books, pens, pencils and any other equipment required for class.

* Every student has the right to learn in a positive learning atmosphere. Behaviour which interferes with this right will not be tolerated

* All pupils must wear the school uniform and appropriate behaviour is expected at all times when wearing the school uniform. P.E. gear may only be worn on relevant days

* Chewing gum, popcorn, crisps, cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, walkmans, laser pens and permanent markers are not allowed on the school premises

* Alcohol, tobacco and illegal substances are not permitted in the school, or on school outings

* Toilets may be used during all breaks, otherwise toilets may be used only in exceptional circumstances

* Mobile phones can only be used between 12.10pm and 12.45pm, and must be turned off at all other times in school.

* Camera phones are not permitted at any time

* The Code of Behaviour applies fully to all activities
